Ingredients

  • Dough: 500 g (4 cups) all-purpose flour, 2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast, 240 ml (1 cup) whole milk warm, 60 g (1/4 cup) granulated sugar, 80 g (1/3 cup) unsalted butter melted, 1 large egg, 1 tsp salt
  • Cinnamon Sugar Coating: 150 g (3/4 cup) granulated sugar, 2 tsp ground cinnamon, 80 g (1/3 cup) unsalted butter melted
  • Glaze: 120 g (1 cup) powdered sugar, 2 3 tbsp milk, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Step 1:
In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tbsp of the sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
Step 2:
Add remaining sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt. Mix well. Gradually add flour, mixing to form a soft dough.
Step 3:
Knead dough on a floured surface for 8 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Step 4:
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a 10-inch (25 cm) bundt pan.
Step 5:
Punch down dough and cut into 40 45 small pieces (about 20 g each).
Step 6:
Mix cinnamon and sugar in a bowl. Dip each dough ball in melted butter, then roll in cinnamon sugar.
Step 7:
Layer coated balls in the bundt pan, staggering placement. Pour any remaining butter and cinnamon sugar over the top.
Step 8:
Bake for 30 35 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate.
Step 9:
For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over warm monkey bread. Serve immediately.
