02 - 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
03 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
04 - 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
05 - 2 cups granulated sugar
06 - 4 large eggs, room temperature
07 - 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
08 - 1 cup whole milk, room temperature
→ Buttercream
09 - 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, softened
10 - 6 cups powdered sugar, sifted
11 - 1/4 cup whole milk
12 - 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
13 - Food coloring, as desired (pink, yellow, green)
# How to Make It:
01 - Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan. Line with parchment paper for easy removal.
02 - In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt to evenly distribute leavening.
03 - In a large mixing bowl, beat softened butter and granulated sugar with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
04 - Add eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition. Blend in vanilla extract until fully integrated.
05 - Add the dry flour mixture to the butter mixture in three additions, alternating with milk. Begin and end with flour. Mix gently until just combined, avoiding overmixing.
06 - Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the surface with a spatula. Bake for 28–32 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center emerges clean.
07 - Allow cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then gently invert onto a wire rack to cool completely before decorating.
08 - Beat softened butter until creamy. Alternate adding powdered sugar and milk, mixing until smooth and fluffy. Blend in vanilla extract.
09 - Divide buttercream into separate bowls. Tint portions with desired food coloring for flowers and leaves.
10 - Spread a generous layer of plain buttercream over the cooled cake to create a smooth foundation.
11 - Fill piping bags fitted with decorative tips. Pipe flowers and leaves across the cake, focusing on corners or edges for visual appeal.
12 - Pipe a cross or add Communion text using a small round tip for a personalized effect.
