Instructions

Step 1:
Rinse collard greens thoroughly in several changes of water to remove all grit. Drain and set aside.
Step 2:
In a large pot or Dutch oven, add smoked turkey pieces and chicken broth. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
Step 3:
Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes to flavor the broth.
Step 4:
Remove turkey pieces. Let cool slightly, then shred meat from the bones. Discard bones and skin.
Step 5:
In the same pot, add onion and garlic. Sauté over medium heat for 3 4 minutes until softened.
Step 6:
Add chopped collard greens in batches, stirring until wilted.
Step 7:
Return shredded turkey to the pot. Stir in apple cider vinegar, sugar, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and salt.
Step 8:
Cover and simmer on low for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until greens are very tender and flavorful.
Step 9:
Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve hot, with hot sauce if desired.
